History of the Britannic Order of St George

The Britannic Order of St George started its operations from the founding of the very first Commandery in the West Midlands From the first days of this operation there was a good recruitment base in the Midlands for potential members working in true Hospitaller spirit and in transparent, hands-on, charity work.

The Midlands are renowned for their sense of civic duty and the voluntary sector has always been very active when it comes to charity work and good causes.

Thus, the first months of 1975 were spent organising a proper five year plan for what was supposed to be a simple target of a couple of Commanderies operating in the Midlands under the auspices of Grand Britannic Priories.

Founding Members

By September of 1975, it was evident that the response to this new private chivalric organisation was overwhelming. The Commander, by means of his close association with one of the leading ecclesiastical pillars in the nearby City of Lichfield, the Grand Master , organised a synergic link with the Chapter of Cullompton in Devon.

The Grand Britannic Priories, in reaction to the increasing membership in the Order, sanctioned the establishing of a Grand Commandery of the Midlands composed of two Commanderies, named La Cochon and St Andrew respectively. All Commanderies operating from the Midlands carry the name of an illustrious Grand Master of the Knights of St George.

By 2007, as the Grand Master of the Order of the Black Ermine, a decision was made to restrict the expansion of the Order and it was decided to appoint a single organisation to deal with the route to membership.

The Grand Master therefore appointed lordships4u.com to be the sole appointed agent to recruit new members to the Order.

Lordships4u.com are based in the Second City's historic Jewellery Quarter.
